Study in Europe

With a long history of pioneering higher education, Europe is home to many of the world’s oldest and most prestigious universities – and many of the most exciting and attractive student cities.

European countries, and their universities, are of course all very different – in terms of language, lifestyle and living costs. However, under the Bologna Process, European universities are working to standardize degree systems.

This section of the website is for students who want to study abroad in Europe. Whether you are interested in Bachelor’s, or, Master’s Programme, get the essential information on study opportunities here.

The European continent is located completely in the northern hemisphere and mainly in the eastern hemisphere. Europe borders onto the Arctic Ocean in the North, the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Mediterranean Sea in the South. It is also called ‘Peninsula of Peninsulas’ and the ‘Peninsula of Eurasia’. Eurasia is the name given to the combined land area of Europe and Asia.

Now Europe includes 51 independent states. Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey are transcontinental countries, partially located in both Europe and Asia. Armenia and Cyprus politically are considered European countries, though geographically they are located in the West Asia territory.

About 10% of the world’s population lives in Europe. In Russia, about 78% of the population, that is more than 110 million people live in the European part of the the world’s largest country and Europe is the continent with the highest population density.

Did you know that over 1.5 million students from around the world came to Europe in 2016 for their higher education… and the numbers are growing every year.

With 1000s of universities, research centres and higher education institutions offering world-class study programmes, Europe is the place to be.

There are several reasons to choose Europe for your higher education:

World-class education: Reach your full potential

World-leading universities, top facilities, inspirational teaching… in Europe, you’re at the centre of an international community with a passion for learning. What makes European universities so strong is the emphasis on creativity, innovation and support – helping you to reach your true potential.

Pioneering research: Be the best

Are you an ambitious researcher looking to boost your career? Europe offers you great opportunities. There were 1.58 million full time equivalent researchers in the EU-27 in 2009. Over the next decade, the European Union is actively looking to attract an additional 1 million researchers!

Support and friendship: Feel at home

Europe is a welcoming, friendly place for students from all around the world. Europe’s universities and colleges offer support and social activities to help you feel at home and happy.

Cultural experience: Have a unique adventure

Studying in Europe is not just about lectures and libraries, it is also a once-in-a-lifetime chance to discover new countries… and to discover yourself too! From the snowy north to the sun-soaked south, across Europe you will find breath-takingly beautiful landscapes, buzzing cities and vibrant cultures waiting for you.

Scholarships and costs: Get value for money

European countries invest in their higher education systems to help make education affordable for students, whilst maintaining high quality standards. Across Europe, tuition fees and living costs compare very well to other study destinations… in fact, in some European countries, study programmes are free of charge!

Germany
Tuition fees: free

If you want cheap (or even free) education in the heart of Europe, then Germany is the place to be. International students make up around 12% of the student population and the teaching can be world class. English-taught programs are rare at undergraduate level (but more common at postgraduate level) so if you want to take advantage of the country’s free undergraduate education, you’ll need to either learn German or be quite open-minded about what you study.

The Netherlands
Tuition fees: around €8,000 – € 25000 per year

The Netherlands is becoming a popular choice for International students. It is the largest provider of English-taught study programmes in mainland Europe, with more than 2,100 international study programmes. With a low cost of living, a cool music and arts scene and a biking culture, cities such as Amsterdam have lots to offer young people.

Sweden
Tuition fees: around €8,000 – € 25000 per year

Choose to study in Sweden, and you will find yourself in a nation which has always punched well above its weight. From being the center of an empire in the 17th century, to being the home and birthplace of the Nobel Prize, its influence has long spread well beyond its borders, despite the fact that its total population is no bigger than a large city. Swedish businesses such as Ikea and Volvo are known around the world, and its contributions to popular culture range from bouffant-haired 70s pop aristocrats ABBA to the groundbreaking films of director Ingmar Bergman.

Modern-day Sweden is known for its sense of social justice and fairness. It has the highest level of wealth equality in the world, one of the world’s lowest gender pay gaps. Add on striking northern European beauty, and free fees for non-EU students were introduced recently, and the appeal of studying in Sweden is pretty strong as students are allowed to work full-time all the year round.

With so many world-class higher education programmes on offer across Europe choosing what to study and where can be difficult!
